About the Future of Work Partnership

BHP and the Australian Government Department of Education have created the Future of Work Program to deliver skills development opportunities in regional Australia. Since 2021, BHP has been investing up to $30 million in target regions in Queensland, Western Australia, New South Wales and South Australia.

Through the Regional Education and Skills Program and the Advanced Apprenticeship Program, the Future of Work Partnership is designed to help regional Australians and businesses prepare for the future, and support local efforts to overcome challenges brought by COVID-19.

To build a successful, adaptable and resilient workforce for the future, a strong focus on development and adaptation of education and training courses is required. These efforts must be focused on enhancing people’s learning experiences, creating opportunities for unemployed people to gain employment, and on upskilling existing employees to be better prepared for the challenges of the future.
